My Town Is Your Town: Duck Donuts in Cary North Carolina

 100 Wrenn Dr #101, Cary, NC 27511

I have heard about Duck Donuts since I moved to North Carolina in 2017 but had never experienced what it was about until recently.  It was midday while showing property in Cary; I saw the sign and thought today is the day and spontaneously pulled into the parking lot.

The store smelled like heaven.  I approached the counter where the nicest young man Adrian offered his assistance; I am sure I looked confused as it was my first time to experience made to order donuts.  Have you ever tried Duck Donuts? Let me explain!  When you walk in, your donuts are made to order, almost like an ice cream sundae. It all starts with a vanilla cake donut,  you pick your coating/ topping and drizzle for your donuts, and all I can say is WOW  for me, it was too many choices, and I took the easy route and ordered off a premade menu.  Want to see more options? Check out their menu here. They also serve coffee, sandwiches, and donut sundaes.

I was like a kid so fascinated with the process.  The donuts are made fresh, the dough dropped into the hot "oil" and moved along a small conveyer belt, and dumped into a pan at the end of the assembly line donut decorator ( my description for the employee) proceeds to top decorate your donuts.

How did they get the name Duck Donuts?

When vacationing in Duck, North Carolina, and while visiting the area, the owner noticed there was nowhere to get fresh donuts. In 2007 the idea was born, and one of the first stores opened in Duck, North Carolina.

There are other locations, including Raleigh, Fayetteville, Cary, and Durham. Don't live in North Carolina; no worries, you can find a location near you.

I really enjoyed the "experience" and my chocolate peanut butter donut!  I highly recommend giving Duck Donuts a try.
